What Is FLA?
Fair Labor Association

 

FLA stands for Fair Labor Association. The products we buy should not come at the cost of worker’s rights, FLA developed its own workplace code of conduct which based on Fair Labor & responsible sourcing or production. FLA workplace code of conduct is referring to International Labor Organization (ILO) standards. The COC combines on 10 principles which are related to the social compliance requirements.

World’s leading brands are the affiliates of FLA and those are committed to ensuing fair labor practices and safe and humane working conditions throughout their supply chain. Companies join the FLA on voluntary basis but they must meet the strict labor standards throughout their supply chain for as long as they are affiliated. Mostly FLA affiliated companies work for institutions.

Suppliers of affiliated companies are also bound to meet the FLA code of conduct to improve the social compliance system such as compensation, health safety & environment and forced labor etc. Once any supplier audit is conducted against FLA COC requirement that would be equally acceptable for other affiliated brands so supplier can have one audit conducted and share with multiple customers who are affiliated with FLA rather than having different audit conducted for each customer

Fair Labor Association ultimate objective is to improve working conditions in all over the supply chain such as farmers, raw materials suppliers, manufacturers etc.

The FLA believes that all goods should be produced fairly & ethically and bring together the important stakeholders universities, civil society organizations and companies to find the sustainable solution to systematic labour issues, since 1999, FLA helps to improve workers live by conducting audits across the supply chain of affiliated brands.

FLA Audit Process

After finalization of agreement with client, Vision Compliance Services’ experts visit to client’s premises and conduct the complete gap analysis of existing system against the FLA code of conduct and discuss the gap report to the management, identified gaps could be in documents, implementation, fire safety, building & electrical safety, compensation, employee’s awareness, statutory & regulatory and local laws compliances. We commence work according to the agreed timelines as per final gap report and proceed for the audit once all the documentation, implementation, and other requirements are done. Our technical team provides complete assistance, support and cooperation throughout the process to make certification audit successful in first attempt.

FLA is not a certification program there is no certificate issuance to the supplier after audit. FLA holds Participating Companies accountable for monitoring 100% of their supply chains for compliance with FLA standards, and FLA conducts independent assessments of a random sample of each company’s supplier factories and supplier of affiliated FLA brands can proceed for the audit by any of authorized auditing company for the FLA audit or FLA type audit and after audit, auditing agency just issue the audit report to the supplier against FLA code of conduct. If any supplier is randomly selected for the FLA audit, Report of audit mostly will not be shared to the supplier directly. They send the report to the affiliated brand.
